Excel Adviser was started in 2006 by the owner, Steve Powell as a part-time business, and it grew into a full-time business starting in 2010. The company provides software development services, focused around Microsoft Office applications.
We create solutions for a variety of different industries such as hi-tech manufacturing, banking, accounting and commercial software. Our clients range from large multinational corporations to small businesses.
Our goal has always been to provide the right solutions to our clients problems. We want our recommendations to be relevant to your company, your industry, and your bottom line.
I am Steve Powell and I created this site. I’ve been developing software since 1992, however my first professional work began in 2004. Since then I’ve developed countless Excel, Access, Outlook, and Word solutions. I’ve created numerous Excel spreadsheets with VBA macros that perform all sorts of tasks such as automating processes (e.g. verification tasks, labelling tasks, etc.), reporting (web services, databases) and business decision making.
I’ve also developed add-ins for Excel, Outlook and Word in C++, C# and VBA for pulling in financial data, manipulating data in Excel, pulling data into Word/Outlook, and integrating Office applications with various databases, proprietary services and web services. Some of the more unusual projects I’ve worked on include automating Excel/Access and 3rd party Excel libraries through Java, C++ text-only applications and C# applications running on servers. I’ve also developed web applications, desktop applications and Access databases.
I have Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto (major in Computer Science).
